Sheriffs' & Constables' 2006 Fees

Letter of Transmittal

December 15, 2005

Dear Fellow Texans:

In 1995 the 74th Texas Legislature enacted Senate Bill 770, which amended §118.131(f) of the Local Government Code to require each county commissioners court to provide written notice to the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts of any changes in the fees set for services performed by the offices of sheriffs and constables. These fees do not apply to criminal cases.

Pursuant to §118.131, Local Government Code, the Comptroller's office has compiled the following list of fees effective January 1, 2006. The fees published are those reported by county officials to the Comptroller.

I am grateful for the cooperation of county officials throughout the state. I commend them for their commitment to public service.

I am also pleased to announce that the report is available on my Window on State Government Web site
at http://window.state.tx.us/lga/sher06/index.html.

Sincerely,

Carole Keeton Strayhorn,
Texas Comptroller
