Texas Job Growth Takes Off
McAllen’s unemployment rate dipped to 3.9 percent in April, the lowest the Texas Workforce Commission has recorded for it in decades.* Despite a slowing national economy, Texas led the nation in job growth in June 2008, posting the highest year-over-year increase in employment among the leading top job-growth states. Houston topped a list of the best cities in the nation to work, live and play, according to July 2008 rankings from Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine.
