Local Governments get a Check-up
Transparency, or governments opening their books so taxpayers can see exactly where their money is going, continues to gain traction. Our Texas Transparency Check-Up Web site, tracks just how transparent local governments, school districts and other entities across the state are. Here you can:
- Find out which Texas cities have posted their budgets, financial reports and check registers online.
- Get tips and tools to improve your local government’s transparency efforts.
- Read success stories on how other entities make transparency work for them.
- Share your own transparency success story.
- Apply for a Comptroller’s Leadership Circle designation, which recognizes local governments that are striving to meet a high standard for financial transparency
