Buying Smarter
The Comptroller’s office launched the TxSmartBuy initiative to identify ways state agencies can save money and achieve economies of scale through smarter purchasing. Since the program began in 2008, the Comptroller’s office has achieved statewide savings totaling $51 million.

Holding the Key to Transparency
The Comptroller of Public Accounts launched its Leadership Circle program in December 2009 to recognize Texas local governments that are striving to meet a high standard for financial transparency online. Since the program launched, dozens of cities, counties and school districts have achieved the “Gold” designation, which recognizes entities that are setting the bar in their transparency efforts. New members are added to the Leadership Circle every month.
